Okay, this has been bugging me ([livejournal.com profile] mpeace got this full-force via YM the other day) for a while. . .

You know how big a goddamned "cup" of coffee, according to coffee pot manufacturers? SIX OUNCES.

So, a pseudo-poll:

How big is everyone's handiest coffee/tea slurping container:

- 6oz
- 8-10oz
- 10-12oz
- 12-16oz
- 16-24oz
- 24-32oz
- 32oz (or IV drip, you addict)

I discovered the arbitrary "6oz = 1 cup" thing today by observation - K gets a single 16 oz cup, slightly underfilled, and I get two (likewise) out of 8.5 "cups" according to our trusty Braun.

They'll serve them at the drive-through too. The cups come with a fairly tight-fitting styro lid as well, so heat retention is good, but it doesn't have a hole for a straw...

I'm just thinking... where do you put that? I mean, it's just going to go flying! And then, a tight-fitting lid don't mean squat.

Then again, I drive a stick shift and drink from large ceramic mugs while driving on winding SoCal suburban roads over steep hills, so perhaps I shouldn't speak.

The cup fits in the average "big gulp" cupholder, since it's not any bigger than the giant 44oz soda cups. I know they make window-mounted cupholders for those.
