Just because we're motivated (and not demolishing large portions of the interior of our house), K got a start on painting our living room today - two coats in three hours (I helped with the second).

Process photos have today's date on 'em at http://www.digitaldiscipline.com/images/house/

Yes, the kitchen is Really That Yellow. But only for now. The living room and dining room/computer room (and maybe the guest bedroom/library) will be grey with violet, blue, and dark green accents. The living room set (dark sage microfiber couch, chair & loveseat; brushed-chrome lamps; and wrought iron & black granite end & coffee tables) will arrive on Thursday, so we hope to have a place to actually put things.

ohmygawth your house is ADORABLE. i love the hardwood floors.

will you paint the exterior too, or just the interior?

the exterior is probably going to be a darker grey with similar themed trim, i think. maybe no green outside, tho.

and, yeah, the floors are cherry, everywhere but the kitchen & bathroom, and practically brand new. . . . so i'm scruffing the living fuck out of them. d'oh!

Lovely house! ... especially after the "what were they thinking" yellow is painted over. I can't wait to see the post-painting and decor pics! :}

I lust for your kitchen cabinets, though they need some nice pewter-tone pulls. Looks great - have fun!

how astute of you to notice - those were the first things i purchased, along with a pair of doorstops; i just haven't installed them yet (that'll be tomorrow, probably).

after the paint, K says she spotted some nice metal tiles that will make a backsplash in the kitchen and will become the inlay on the fireplace, and maybe act as an accent on the front of the mantel, too.

note to self: find brushed metal outlet and switchplate covers

So does the blonde come with it, or was that part of the closing terms?

And is that Bob in a tie-dye? Just curious...

Congrats on the new digs!!! It looks like you've got a very cool house there. Your living room looks very similar to ours, at least on one wall: two small windows surrounding a fireplace. Is yours a craftsman by chance? It looks like maybe it was built around that general time period.

I couldn't tell ya if it is craftsman or not. all i know is that, to [livejournal.com profile] angel_renewed's neverending annoyance is that it was built in 1918 (hers is a 1925 bungalow).

of course, i can't tell the difference between a bungalow and a craftsman. . . i can only say "yep, that's a cape cod" when i see one with any degree of certainty most of the time. *laugh*

LOL... Ours is a 1912 craftsman bungalow. Like you, I knew not much about all this until we moved in. Then I got excited about restorative decorating!

Best wishes for settling in. Looks like K's doing a great job with the paint.
