axissilverhand asks a good question - what did people do to keep from going bugshit on a killing spree in the days of yore?
Or did they go on bugshit killing sprees, and the lack of efficient means of doing so, coupled with lack of instant-gratification media saturaton, made doing so less visible?
Gas is up around $2.60 for the cheap stuff here today. It cost twice as much to fill up my car two weeks ago as it did two years ago, and gas cost 10% less.
Hey, Dubya, I guess that war wasn't about oil, was it? Bet you and your cronies aren't making a bundle on that crude pushing $70 a barrel, huh? How about that three billion $$ you appropriated from Saddam - still using it to buy off political flacks in the Green Zone, free of congressional oversight?
Since it's August, and our Asshole In Chief is on vacation, blissfully disregarding the unpleasant reality that's literally camping on his doorstep in the person of a soldier's grieving mother, not to mention the quagmire (DRY QUAGMIRE!) he's embroiled the armed forces in. . . who wants to bet that something Very Bad doesn't happen between now and Halloween? Something like, I dunno, we invade another country (hey, Iran. . . you might want to start stockpiling insurgents and IED materials now)
Anyone heard anything about Tom DeLay's head being served on a silver plate, as he so richly deserves? Didn't think so.
How about Gary Condit? They ever bother to follow up on that asshole?
What about Cheney's lawsuit? Gitmo?
That jackass Bolton say anything stupid to the UN yet?
Fuck intelligent design; I demand intelligent action.

Usually, we gathered a bunch of like-minded people, saddled up the wagons and horses, and colonized someplace. Usually with a bit of force. Sometimes it was successful. Other times, it wasn't.
Think about it; if we could colonize some untouched land with a bunch of people who are in general agreement with ourselves...wouldn't that pretty much take care of the bugfuck issue?
It's pretty much the 2nd law of thermodynamics taking effect in terms of society. The earth is a closed system at this time; no room to go. Thus, entropic decay begins to set in as we eat ourselves...

My posts of late are about getting a job that pays something real; I have a further update on that today.
Although, we WILL be down in September, as stated.
Have any recommendations on a decent place to stay?

there's this homey little B&B, as long as you're cat-friendly, that comes replete with freaks and broadband. . .

We are cat-friendly.
Oh, and while I'm at it, ya'll are aware you're on the guest list for the October wedding [amongst others]?
