Does this not sound like the perfect vehicle for real-time Hooray, Death! reporting? *cackle*

In other news, Fuck Big Oil. ExxonMobil posted a record $10 BILLION NET profit last quarter. Thanks for bending us all over the pump for that fucking.

I'll be participating from a CRUISE SHIP. How cool is THAT?!?!

you can blame unstable vessel mechanics for your typos, even.

I've been avoiding NaNoWriMo for years as I haven't had the time/think it would be too much effort (for me)/etc., but this is something I could actually do! :p

will you actually be trying to get dr0nk? ;-)

That's the hard part. I often try, and fail. Getting dr0nk is a difficult process... and then I would probably be so sleepy and tummy-so-gurgly I would just end up posting, "BLAAAAAAAARGH tired woo sleepy dru\70nkk sleeeeeeeeeep now..."

well, you're clever, you and peter will think of something. ;-)

The key is no food and lots of hard liquor shots - get drunk fast, and before you can get full. And then something/someone to do to keep you entertained and awake.

My problems are:
1) I easily get full of "drink" and can't "drink" without "eat" or I get bored. The solution of course, as you already mentioned is, hard liquor shots.
2) Hard liquor shots, even without eating, in most cases, do not do the trick. One occasion I remember very well was in Seattle. I made it known that I have a hard time getting dr0nk. I ate very little that day, and went out to the Vogue (club). I had a number of double lemon drop drinks and some beers before getting challenged to shots of 151. I had 3 double shots of 151 back to back (to back), and was still not teh dr0nk. (I do believe I followed that with the rest of someone else's mixed drink and a whiskey of my own in the last 30 minutes of closing.) I do have a feeling that another double shot of the 151 would have done it, but as you can see read my stomach is like a garbage disposal for alcohol. (I *can* easily mix booze and beer and...) :p

Oh, and the only alcohol I have found that makes me sleepy on its own is tequila. I just get sleepy quick in general, and drinking booze can get boring and therefore I get lazy and sleepy from the boredom.

Like I said -- complicated/difficult process (but still possible). :p

Ah, see the problem there was likely the beer and the mixed drinks _before_ starting the shots - too much nonalcoholic buffer. Shots have to come first to get the dr0nk going (takes about 30 minutes to kick in for me) then maintain with the others. Your alcoholic metabolism sounds much like mine, though I occasionally have days where one standard mixed drink will put me to sleep. =) Usually it takes me 2 long island iced teas (or equivalent) to get nicely happy, or 3 if I've eaten, though 3 can push the nausea barrier, depending on who's mixing.

Sounds like a plan.

I've mentioned before, energy companies claim hardship in every forum except financial statements and shareholder meetings.

Bastages. Rich bastages, but bastages nonetheless.

BTW, that was $9.9b, not $10b. And mind you, they did it on just over $100b in sales. 10% profit is decent, but hardly the mark up that some other companies get. On another note, net income was $1.58 a share (up from 88 cents last year), but it was 6 cents under forecasts -- Exxon's (XOM) share price actually dropped.

Besides, you're just jealous that you didn't:
a) own Exxon-Mobil stock (or any other oil company)
b) own oil futures
c) have some land with oil on it (or even a refinery!)

And for those pricks who are hollering for the "windfall profits tax" or any other penalty -- don't even go there if you ever want to see the price of gas come down.
Date/Time: 2005-10-27 22:42 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
I don't necessarily agree with the windfall profits tax notion - that's punishing success - but I do think that there was substantial price gouging for consumers, and it'll only continue this winter for heating fuel costs, which is, on the whole, not justified by the realities of anything but the manufactured market.

realities of anything but the manufactured market??

Which one? the reduced capacity from damaged refineries or impending winter which by the way is predicted to bring cold to much of the country....again....as it does every year, which will cause an increase in *gasp* demand.

crap production is down, and demand is up.

the manufactured market = 'oil futures'. not the actual marketplace, but the hypothetical one that people trade on, the news of which affects today's price at the pump, which is complete BS.

Do you go to the grocery store everyday? Buy personal grooming supplies, fresh everyday? No, you stock up ahead of time. You try to buy when they're on sale. Same with money/stock/etc.

Do you blame the companies for selling their product for the most money they can get? It's a simple theory of economics -- make money.

And let's not forget how cheap gas really is here in the US. Try buying gas in any other country: you're doing well at $3.50/gallon. In most of Europe it's more like $4.50 to $5.00+.
