That's the hard part. I often try, and fail. Getting dr0nk is a difficult process... and then I would probably be so sleepy and tummy-so-gurgly I would just end up posting, "BLAAAAAAAARGH tired woo sleepy dru\70nkk sleeeeeeeeeep now..."
The key is no food and lots of hard liquor shots - get drunk fast, and before you can get full. And then something/someone to do to keep you entertained and awake.
My problems are: 1) I easily get full of "drink" and can't "drink" without "eat" or I get bored. The solution of course, as you already mentioned is, hard liquor shots. 2) Hard liquor shots, even without eating, in most cases, do not do the trick. One occasion I remember very well was in Seattle. I made it known that I have a hard time getting dr0nk. I ate very little that day, and went out to the Vogue (club). I had a number of double lemon drop drinks and some beers before getting challenged to shots of 151. I had 3 double shots of 151 back to back (to back), and was still not teh dr0nk. (I do believe I followed that with the rest of someone else's mixed drink and a whiskey of my own in the last 30 minutes of closing.) I do have a feeling that another double shot of the 151 would have done it, but as you can see read my stomach is like a garbage disposal for alcohol. (I *can* easily mix booze and beer and...) :p
Oh, and the only alcohol I have found that makes me sleepy on its own is tequila. I just get sleepy quick in general, and drinking booze can get boring and therefore I get lazy and sleepy from the boredom.
Like I said -- complicated/difficult process (but still possible). :p

Ah, see the problem there was likely the beer and the mixed drinks _before_ starting the shots - too much nonalcoholic buffer. Shots have to come first to get the dr0nk going (takes about 30 minutes to kick in for me) then maintain with the others. Your alcoholic metabolism sounds much like mine, though I occasionally have days where one standard mixed drink will put me to sleep. =) Usually it takes me 2 long island iced teas (or equivalent) to get nicely happy, or 3 if I've eaten, though 3 can push the nausea barrier, depending on who's mixing.
