Y'all are probably familiar with that tax analogy where ten guys share a lunch bill that costs a hundred bucks, with the various permutations showing the disparate tax load, etc, etc.
I just realized the fallacy in this model.
The top three guys got dessert.
The top two guys got coffee and a cordial.
And the top guy got a blowjob and a lap dance... while everyone else had to watch.

Then again, I think that the less tax paid in total, the better.

Now, if only the people who vote for implementing plans had to pay for their plans, we'd all be set. No more of this free welfare crap shrinking my paycheck in half.

Top guy = Halliburton
2nd Top Guy = Lockheed Martin

It's the multinationals, executives, stockholders and the rest of the people who earn their money who get hurt most from taxation. Damn progressive taxation -- work harder so the government can take more away from you, the one who rightfully earned it.

You might learn something.

I've also learned economics from the school of real life: I know how much I pay in taxes and I see how much welfare and medicaid recipients (not to mention the illegal alients) get from me/my employer/the state (chose any combination thereof) without lifting a finger. In NYS, the economic benefit of having Medicaid cover prescription drugs *alone* (not including doctor's visits, hospital costs, food stamps, etc, etc, etc) was the same as having a job that paid over $15/hr. Who do you think is paying for that?
I think that if only the people who voted for a program had to pay for it, you'd see a hell of a lot less "public" benefits, and a lot more people driving (insert pricey car of choice).

Can the ladies get a few extra martinis for themselves, just to soften the "blow"?
