Y'all are probably familiar with that tax analogy where ten guys share a lunch bill that costs a hundred bucks, with the various permutations showing the disparate tax load, etc, etc.

I just realized the fallacy in this model.

The top three guys got dessert.
The top two guys got coffee and a cordial.
And the top guy got a blowjob and a lap dance... while everyone else had to watch.

On the upside, they got to see some titties.

If there's one thing more annoying than having a girl you can't screw tease you, it's having a girl you can't screw, who would never, ever screw you, tease someone in your immediate vicinity and intentionally ignore you.

I'm seriously considering putting this quote on my Info page somewhere.

go right ahead, just attribute as necessary. :-)

And this is why I don't believe a flat tax model would or should ever work. Not that our current system is any better.
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 14:08 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
I think a flat tax model is an improvement over what we've got now.

Then again, I think that the less tax paid in total, the better.

Amen. Probably the best tax statement I've heard you say in a long time.

Now, if only the people who vote for implementing plans had to pay for their plans, we'd all be set. No more of this free welfare crap shrinking my paycheck in half.

I think any gratuitous porkbarrel project author should be immediately removed from office and made to do hard manual labor to the tune of one workday per million dollars his plan would have cost taxpayers.

[laughs] I'd vote for that.

I think it should be more like per $100,000 so we get to see some real work done. =8-)

This is sexist, you scum. How come it's all "guys" in your scenario. Hmmm? ;-)
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 14:26 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] netgoth.livejournal.com
Ummm, because guys suck at head?
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 15:42 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] xany.livejournal.com
isn't that the point?

"blow" is just a figure of speech, ladies!

I'd thought that would be pretty obvious...[1]
Top guy = Halliburton
2nd Top Guy = Lockheed Martin
Third Top Guy = Exxon

[1] Although I do wonder why [livejournal.com profile] etcet thought his analogy would upset Liberals when it's multinational corporations, their executives & stockholders that benefit the most from taxation.
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 23:58 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
because it was early..... ;-)
Date/Time: 2006-04-27 00:41 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] mighty-man.livejournal.com
Umm, no...it's welfare and medicaid recipients who benefit the most from taxation.

It's the multinationals, executives, stockholders and the rest of the people who earn their money who get hurt most from taxation. Damn progressive taxation -- work harder so the government can take more away from you, the one who rightfully earned it.

Study Economics.
You might learn something.
Date/Time: 2006-04-27 06:35 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] mighty-man.livejournal.com
Been through more than my fair share of economics (Minored in Economics at CMU, also have an MBA). I've learned a lot, like how much taxation is an barrier to economic performance.

I've also learned economics from the school of real life: I know how much I pay in taxes and I see how much welfare and medicaid recipients (not to mention the illegal alients) get from me/my employer/the state (chose any combination thereof) without lifting a finger. In NYS, the economic benefit of having Medicaid cover prescription drugs *alone* (not including doctor's visits, hospital costs, food stamps, etc, etc, etc) was the same as having a job that paid over $15/hr. Who do you think is paying for that?

I think that if only the people who voted for a program had to pay for it, you'd see a hell of a lot less "public" benefits, and a lot more people driving (insert pricey car of choice).

I believe in the equal distribution of wealth: when I am Czar, everyone gets a martini and a blow job. From each according to *her* ability, to each according to *his* needs. XD
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 15:06 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] fenixinthedark.livejournal.com
Oh geez! :::snickers:::

Can the ladies get a few extra martinis for themselves, just to soften the "blow"?

(Badum-CHA!)
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 16:54 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] david-deacon.livejournal.com
If they're softening the blow, their technique needs work.
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 16:55 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
Is that a Baldwin?
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 16:58 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] xany.livejournal.com
no, that's a White (http://www.tatersalad.com/).
Date/Time: 2006-04-26 17:23 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] fenix-harbinger.livejournal.com
Actually, if it is the blow they are softening, and not the... object of their attentions... one might think this preferable.

I do so love a subject I can sink my teeth into, though. ;-)

:::giggles::: I said "subject"... not "object".

For more information, you'll just have to ask [livejournal.com profile] firefly_pilot. That, or do your own empirical study. ;-P
