How the fuck do I gain five pounds in as many days by eating sensibly* and going to the gym four times?

Bah.

* There's no way in hell a bag of tortilla chips and 12oz of salsa weigh five fucking pounds above and beyond normal meals.

Maybe it's five pounds of muscle?

Water weight.

Both just from a change in salt or water consumption (and I'm guessing there was a lot of salt in the chips and salsa), or from doing a lot of heavy weight training (I've heard that muscles that have the little microscopic tears that result from a good workout tend to retain water).

I know that I'm always heavier the morning after I've done a heavy weights session.

Ahh, you're right... it may well be salt befriending the daily gallon of water.

Honestly, my weight can vary by 2-7 pounds over the course of a week (and that's not including feminine issues). It's probably no big deal.

On a tangent, it occurs to me that you might fit in quite well at the [livejournal.com profile] gymrats community.

I *knew* I was forgetting something; I do the Bull Shannon / National Guard approach to bathroom visitation - "One weekend a month, two weeks every summer."

When is the last time you went to the gym four days out of five?
Date/Time: 2007-06-15 18:33 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
the week before mordvergence; so, two weeks ago.

Then yes, it's because of your increased activity - It can also, literally, take months of consistent activity for someone in relatively good shape (which you are) to see any kind of progress on the scale.

Define "sensibly"

I put on 17 lbs in 14 days once. =8-)

No seriously, it's water weight. My weight can vary up to 5 lbs after a single swim session.
