Look for a bit more consistent structure in the next few weeks, as I undertake a modified version of T-Nation's "Velocity Diet," which has very specific prescriptions as far as both nutrition and exertion are concerned. Normally, I'm very haphazard, catch-as-catch-can kind of guy, doing the pseudo-holistic "I feel like working on ______ today" thing.

so you're eating nothing but powder and pills for a few weeks? Yikes, man....

Nope. I'm not going full-bore on that road (hence the "modified version"). Mostly trying that workout regimen, and using those shakes for lunch / snack (which I do most days anyways).

So there's some real food in there somewhere, like "man's version" of that whole slimfast shake thing....

I've just always taken any advice from T-nation with a grain of salt, they seem like they love to write articles to promote their products...

essentially, because i'm not a candidate for dropping a lot of weight (just dropping ten more pounds of non-lean mass would put me at something like 5% body fat and 150# - that'd be fine, but any more than that is overkill), my approach is going to be five workouts a week, and one or two light healthy meals a day, rather than the "one real meal a week, and three or maybe four workouts" as proscribed.

There's probably some truth to the whole "we are pimping our shit" angle. Their products were given a resounding personal endorsement to me by [livejournal.com profile] bathalamus at D*C last year (including a bag full of samples), and, in the main, they do pretty much exactly what they claim to - the surge workout fuel, in particular, is powdered workout insanity (drink 12 oz, then sip 16 oz throughout a workout, and you can lift for =hours=. it's ridiculous). the fact that i ordered almost exactly what the program called for the day before they published the program tells me that, if nothing else, my intuition and approach aren't completely whacked.

Hey etcet, I've been reading a lot about this and am intrigued by your story and the goals you're trying to accomplish. How's it coming?

Well, I did the 15k on Saturday, and the first "V Burn Challenge" workout of the VD regimen is going to be this afternoon, as something of a benchmark. (In addition to fucking with the nutritional and workout guidelines proscribed by the program, I've also day-shifted it because I was impatient to get started, since this is supposed to be the "weekend" workout).
