If anyone is looking for a sysadmin gig, or knows someone who is, our office is going to be looking for a new one, as our current guy is moving on to greener pastures.

The candidate should be strong in the following areas:
- Windows network administration / Active Directory
- Exchange
- Virtual Machine setup & maintenance
- SAN

Please ping me here or via PM. The job hasn't yet been posted, but will be soon.

Despite my occasional bitching, it's a really nice bunch of folks, things are generally fairly laid-back, and there are provisions for working remotely a couple of days a week. And, since it's a credit union, there are a few financial perks that don't show up on the paycheck.

Dammit, why do you have to be so far away? This would be perfect. If I didn't have a house and an awesome SO, I'd snatch this up in a second.

Well, the house next door to me is about to be available for rent...

And I've been looking for a job for sooooooo long, and you rule, and FL is nice and warm so I could bike all winter... Augh!

I bike all winter anyway even though I'm in Oregon :)

On a MTB or a road bike? What kind of tires?

sorry, not a mountain bike, a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan en500 LTD ^_^ pretty Imperial Red on the take, spiked license plate frame, skulls on the tires and license plate frame

Derp, I need to remember to specify. Currently on pedal power, dreaming lustily of buying a layed-down 600 street bike to learn how to not die, then upgrading to a Ducati.

You could always go with a Kawasaki Ninja 250... The engine output is rated the same as the Ninja 500, up to and including a top speed of about 125, but half the engine size :)

I had heard that they're a difficult first bike as they're tricky to shift with the low torque.

That I wouldn't know about, but my Vulcan 500 is very nice :) Also it's a little on the small side but still fine for a tall guy like me.

(and I can get it up to about 110 if I really want to.. 0.o)

When I biked year-round in Sweden, it was on a Marin MTB (cannot for the life of me remember the exact model, but ISTR it was some sort of feline), using the pretty standard "knobbly MTB tires". They're OK for packed snow, slightly less so for drift-snow on ice (you need to slow down in advance and be gentle when steering). OK for loose snow on packed snow. Blank ice is doable, but you need to be very careful about steering, braking or speeding up.

But yeah, location. Sigh.

were you not emsproggened, i'd dangle the same "house for rent, guaranteed awesome neighbors!" carrot, but between school changes and the fact that it wouldn't be big enough for your pack.... ah, well.

If I were stronger in doing the server admin portion of my job instead of the desktop support I would be all over that, but unfortunately I seem to get into positions where all I get to do is the client support instead of server support, which of course pays less :(

That would be my gig here. My team isn't hiring at the moment, though.
